Meet Lazarus

Lazarus (the little guy) was sent home from the hospital to die.  When the local church heard about this they all went over to his home and prayed over him.  A while later the children were performing a play at the church and when one of them said "Lazarus enter",  The Lazarus you see here walked in through the front door of the Church. He is now able to walk a couple kilometers a day, and the greatest blessing is he and his wife were able to marry off the daughter. If had passed away the family would have stayed in mourning for a very long time and the daughter may never have even married. Praise the Lord for those who trust in the healing power of the Lord.
Oh I forgot to mention,  he was Hindu before his miraculous healing.

Nothing like a nice 1/4 mile walk to do your laundry in a small stream.... at least they can still smile.

Well as far as we can tell, about a dozen adults or 20 school children

Prodigal Water Buffalo

When we asked our translator why they tied the front foot on some of the water buffalo he told us it was because they were prodigal buffalo. The owners will do this to stop them from running away from them or if they are simply being unruly.  Hmmmm... I wonder if this would work on prodigal children.

We were in a small remote village and Denise was being shown the way to the restroom area.  When they had arrived it was already occupied... guess who?

Heart Breaking

We had stopped for breakfast while on our way out to a village when we noticed this man sleeping (yes we did see him move) in the center median of the road. Trucks, buses, tractors, tuk-tuks and motorbikes were flying past him, clouds of dust and exhaust were surrounding him.  Unfortunately this isn't an uncommon sight but no less shocking to see. Our hearts break when we think how many are lost and hurting in  India and throughout the world.

Nellore Arrival

As always train travel in India is interesting and entertaining.  We arrived safely in Nellore, and after meeting up with old friends that transported us to the orphanage, we have settled in to a degree.  Fortunately our first day was one of rest.  We bought a few groceries so we’ll be preparing food daily for most meals unless we’re in villages where the pastor or evangelist’s family will prepare food for us.  It had been raining for three days prior to our arrival so the roads were quite muddy and humidity extremely high.  Daily temps are probably in the 90’s and each morning we are greeted at 5:00am by the Muslim call to prayer.  Friday was our first day of travel and we visited a remote village about 2 hours from the Alma orphanage.   With 6 of us packed in to our small auto, we buzzed along the roads in and out of small towns and villages laden with people, animals, tuk-tuks (small taxi’s) and tiny little shops.  We stopped at one small whole in the wall restaurant for a quick breakfast and special tea that the owner insisted upon making for us.  Vijiyam was our expert driver for the day and maneuvered us through a number of small streams and up dirt roads until we finally arrived at the village.

We're all "foot soldier's" for the Lord.  The authors, Steve and Denise are just two of many,  trying to be about the Lord's business.
